Fireflies visible at night near the guesthouse offer a unique charm during your stay. The hotpot dinner is hearty, filling you up satisfactorily after a day of travel.
The Japanese-Style Quadruple Room felt a bit cramped for a family, which may be challenging if you plan to spend more time inside. Sleeping on a futon could be uncomfortable for those unfamiliar with it, and there was a persistent odd noise every couple of minutes that disrupted my sleep.

The traditional atmosphere combined with the family-like hospitality made the experience memorable. The delicious home-cooked hotpot dinner was a highlight, leaving us fully satisfied. However, the shared bathroom set-up could be inconvenient during peak times, and the limited space in the Japanese-Style Twin Room felt a bit cramped. Also, while the scenic surroundings are breathtaking, reaching the location required a bit of travel.

Ryoso Chatani offers an authentic experience with clean traditional tatami mat rooms and home-cooked meals. I particularly enjoyed the hotpot for dinner, which was hearty and satisfying. The shared onsen is a lovely retreat after a day of work, and I appreciated the yukata provided for guests. Additionally, the complimentary bicycles made exploring the scenic nearby temples enjoyable, especially Ohara Sanzenin.
It is a bit of a trek from Kyoto, requiring an hour bus ride.

Couples seeking relaxation
We really appreciated the warm hospitality the hosts provided they even helped us extend our time in the hot bath which was a real treat. The view from our room was fine and felt like we were living in a painting every morning.
It wasn't exactly budget-friendly but definitely worth it.
